"On That Day" is included on the (excellent) *Spear Burning* compilation. [cover=380,452]

The linear notes have this to say:
The chilling 'On That Day' from Burning Junior is, as far as everyone is aware their only recording. Little is known about them than:

"Well it's some youths now. They were from St. Ann." [Burning Spear]

But apparently they failed to grasp the amount of hard work and dedication that was required to make music to come up to Burning Spear's exacting standards:

"Artists don't give you a chance to do the right thing. They lose their faith and patience."

I talked to Spear about that group. He gave me the exact answer mentionned by picaraza. A pity, those youths surely had a good potential...

Apparently Burning Junior were discovered by Winston Rodney who recognised there talent but they are known as the group who never progressed. The song "On That Day" which was recorded and would eventually be found on the compilation Burning Spear-Spear Burning which is a timeless classic was one of there few songs to be exposed to the masses any other`s are definitely rare.
I have never heard there song "Land" unfortunately.

They were a young unknown vocal trio that quickly dissappeared and never returned which is a shame because Spear recognised there quality.

Another one of spear`s discoveries was Philip Fullwood who enjoyed a little more success with spear on the compilation "Spear Burning" and Marcus Garvey and the dub album.

I have a theory that at this period when spear was trying to bring these up and coming young talents to the forground there was a dispute over probably money or ideas and control which must of stirred up some kind of split. The comments made by Picaraza mentioned, "what happened to this group and spear replied A pity those youths had good potential" which i also read about years back sounds to me in those comments there was definetely a disagreement.

If you can get hold of any other songs recorded by this group hold on to them because they are so rare.

Peace,

Rasta

hi dub_west.
phillip fullwood wrote some songs on the marcus garvey album and on the follow-p album"man in the hills"if iam not mistaken.he is even performing on the "live at the london lyceum"alongside winston rodney, bobby ellis and aswad band members,as a percussionist.he was latter known to have relocated in the ney york area and i don't think he was ever satisfied with the spear.
