this has been gone over quite well in a blood and fire discussion maybe a year or so ago so here goes: reggae regular a.k.a. 'the regulars' first released an LP called 'victim' which included Allan King a.k.a. Alan Kingpin a.k.a. Ras Bombo.(there were of course other singers but I will only refer to the 'Ariwa posse' related artists for this discussion). for their second release titled 'I and I' Anthony Benjamin a.k.a. Tony Benjamin sings lead on the majority of the tunes but allan king sings lead on a few(i cant recall the exact tracks). after this album alan and tony both started collaborating with mad professor for his Ariwa label and they both released solo material(tony put out an LP titled 'African Rebel' & alan has 2 lps that surfaced in recent years) as well as contributed harmony vocals and played insturments on a numerous amount of ariwa material. during their solo careers a spin off sort of group featuring a few original artists came out with an LP called 'ghetto rock' on greensleeves which does not feature tony or alan but its worthy of a listen or two(my personal favortie RR lp). this lp came out the same year as tonys african rebel and both of which were mixed by the mad professor.

ok well I know that wasnt the easiest thing to understand but the facts are there and I hope it cleared up at least a tiny bit of the confusion.

ask anything about RR or ariwa and you got me all worked up and ready to chat! IRIE!!!!
