Can anyone give details of any dubs or alternate versions of Dr Alimatado's Born for a purpose...

'Reason For Living' is a separately titled Part 2 of the original Discomix and his song 'Still Alive' is a third cut over the same rhythm.

Not at home right now, but that's how I remember it anyway.

"Still Alive" is Dr Alimantado's dj cut to "Born for a Purpose". It appears on the b-side of the greensleeves 12 inch.

Also the dub cut to "Still Alive" called "Life All Over" is on the 12".

I played it last night and, although it says "Still Alive/Life All Over" on the label, it's actually only 1 track. It may morph from DJ to dub (sort of) over the length of the track, but still is only 1 track.

Hi 6anbatte, I'll have to dig it out too but I guess you're right... But I seem to remember they did come out as 2 separate vocal and dub 7"s as well.

Definitely dig it out as it really does sound incredible!

I must admit I don't know anything about the 7"s.

Actually I can't stop playing it now. And the 12" (and I am probably nit-picking now) is more like this;

Side A "Born For A Purpose/Reason For Living" - vocal followed by dub. All one track though.

Side B - "Still Alive/Life All Over" - DJ cuts either side of a small dub in the middle. Again all as 1 track.

As that's the case I get the feeling the 7" is;
A-side "Born For Purpose" - vocal
B-side "Reason For Living" - dub

Just guessing, of course!
