Sad news: saw on another board that Brent Dowe passed away from a heart attack the other day
Incredibly sad as Melodians had just started to get back together again, seriously this time
Unforgettable voice, one of the best
'By the Rivers of Babylon, where we sat down...'

Yes, great great singer and he will be deeply missed although I don't see much of a reaction over here

Sad news, very sad news.
R.I.P Mr. Brent Dowe
Seems Reggae has lost quite a number of soldier since last year.
Mr. Laurel Aitken
Mr. Justin Hinds
Mr. Clency Eccles
Mr. Brent Dowe
Rest in Peace to all our Fallen Soldier
Sad indeed

I guess he crossed the Babylon River then...
I love that Babylon River tune, very spiritual. I'm collecting as many versions of it as possible.

There's a version of Rivers of Babylon on Sylvan Morris' excellent Cultural Dub LP. A really crucial version it is too. With - I think - U-Roy on talkover. Worth every penny (and that's LOTS) to get that rare and expensive LP just for that version.
