Sensi and Reminah Dub

Does anyone have more information on these albums? They always seems to crop up when I'm looking for Perry Lps, but I have a bad feeling that both Sensi dub and Reminah dub are dodgy fakoid bootlegs.

Even the Mighty Mick Sleeper seems to draw a blank when it comes to these albums.

I only have the Reminah LP, it was issued by Jah Woosh.

But £22 plus postage is a bit steep. I'm not doubting the seller's integrity and I haven't got time to trawl the internet sites for bargains right now, but I would have paid £10 tops for my brand new copy a couple of years ago - maybe $9.99 from Ernie B's?

According to the rest of the blurb on the back, Side A is Scratch's work and Side B is by Sly & Robbie. Another rhythm that isn't mentioned by the seller is 'War Ina Babylon'.

As for authenticity of the source material, I don't know! If they really are very early Black Ark recordings then it makes sense that I don't recall the typical sound on there. But the rhythm selection, especially Bob's 'Jah Live', matches the Upsetter's work.

Thanks, VC. I'm still intrigued by these albums - why would they put Perry on the A and Sly And Robbie on the b? whats the connection? Well, if I see it cheap I'll give it a go.

The connection is probably that Jah Woosh got his hands on 5 rhythm tracks to DJ from each studio and wandered off with them! Not that I'm dissing the man - just that if you only have half an LP from two big names then putting them together on a single album is one way of making a penny.

The Reminah Dub tracks can be found on quite a few compilations, as for the Sensi Dub; this is a series Vol.1, 2, 3, etc. It's prety good! I would check for the Roots Radics Sensi Dub (maybe like Vol. 6) and there is also a Jah Shaka meets the Revolutionaries Sensi dub. Good Luck!

I'm surprised. I thought they were shoddy bootlegs. Must investigate further. I've managed to avoid being stung by dodgy bootlegs entirely so far and I don't want to mess up my 100% record.

That should answer most of the questions here.

The reminah LP is a bogus album, these dubs are mostly not from Perry, but badly remixed versions of dubs from Prince Jammy & Bunny Lee.

Should do, but doesn't!

Ron's site is a very useful source of information on all things Upsetter-ish. But on this occasion there is only a tracklisting under the heading "Dubious".

Presumably this means the LP may be bogus (rather than bootlegged) but nobody is sure what it is or where it came from? I'm no expert but it brings me back to my original point that ties in with other opinions: There are much better ways of spending £24.50!

Reminah Dub is indeed listed in my bogus section. it's in fact listed there because of the albums title "Lee Perry & The Upsetter".
The only connection to Lee Perry there is. is "Babylon War Dub", a remake of Max Romeo's "War Ina Babylon". But there's nothing Lee Perry or Black Ark to this track. Probably Tubby's, early Channel One or something.
Some nice dubs on the album, I think, but I would have accepted the album as a more genuine one when Lee Perry's name wasn't used.

Sensi Dub has got one early Black Ark track: "Customs Dub", a dub version of King Burnett's "I Man Free".
