Family Man as organist...

Hi all...

Want to speak about Family Man playing his unusual second instrument... the organ. Of what Ive understand, its the same "Family Man" as the bassist we know... But he played some wicked organ...

He did the killer shuffle on Yabby You's *Conquering Lion* that got an absolute killer sound that really enhance the riddim... Ive heard he was an organist on a few others riddim I cant remember now...

But he also recorded some wicked organ solo sides... Like *Godfatha Skank* that is truly wicked...

There was a recent 10" repress of a cut too...

So my question is: do you know more istrumentals / riddims on which Family man is on organ...? Would love to know.

Thanks & Guidance

Didn't know he played organ! I've got both those LP's and I'm sure I've looked at the liner notes several times ... just haven't really connected the names and indstruments I guess.

Youre true... didnt try the RA searching link... as an organist he appears on more albums...

Aston Barrett - Familyman In Dub [197X]
Burning Spear - Farover [1982]
Sylford Walker - Lamb's Bread [1978]
Vivian Jackson - Ram A Dam [1976]
Yabby You - Conquering Lion [1972]
Yabby You & King Tubby - King Tubby's Prophesy Of Dub [1976]
Yabby You & Various Artists - Jesus Dread [1972-77]

There are a few singles too that dont appear here, apart of Godfather Skank... So if someone know more...

The 10 inch you speak of had the funk cut "Soul Constitution" which I have on a blank 7 inch with a nice Slim Smith cut on the flip. Think that 10 was bootleg.

family man also played rhythm guitar as well. he did alot of cuts on bunny wailers blackheart man. as well as playing the guitar for the aggrovators and the bass. thats why he is a top notch player because he knows what it takes to make a good riddim
