Compilations / Various Artists on CD

I have purchased the Babylon Fall Down compilation CD this week having heard about it throught th RA forum and found it to be a real good album.

I also have the Universal Dreadlocks, Children of Jah, Observation Station and 129 Beat Street Special compilations.

Can anyone recommend any other compilations on CD that are in the same vein as these and are worth purchasing.

There are many great and rare tracks out there that are impossible to find. Compilations are sometimes the only way to get hold of them.

Respect

Dave

Dave,
"We Are Getting Bad"(Motion)
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2316#rel5276
is more great stuff from the Phase 1 label with some of the same artists on "Children of JAH" mostly in discomix format- includes Chantells' monster hit "Waiting in the Park" on the same riddim as "Desperate Time". Also strong are Chantell's "Hey You" , Steve Boswell's "We are Getting Bad" & Heptones' "Deceivers". Not quite as rootsy as "Children of Jah" but great nonetheless.

On the Niney side I'd recomend "Blood & Fire" (Trojan 2cd. There is a little overlap w/ Observation Station but plenty more to make it worthwhile IMO
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/4112
Also B&F's "Microphone Attack" is a great compilation of Niney's DJ productions.

I personally highly recomend "The Hudson Affair"
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3658
This is another of Trojan's 2CD sets focusing on the highly individual productions of Keith Hudson-the Reggae Dentist". Great work from U.Roy, Alton Ellis, I.Roy and Big Youth's monster "S90 Skank". There are also some of Keith's own "unique" vocals which aren't to everyones taste. Still I highly recomend this set from an often overlooked producer.

Also, if you can find them get the Nighthawk record's compilations
Wiser Dread-

Knotty Vision-
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/1260#rel1150
Calling Rastafari-
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2122#rel1989
Great tracks and rare singles from Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, Jackie Brown, ITALS, Morwells, Sang Hugh, Culture, Mighty Diamonds, Gladiators, Sang Hugh & others. All heavy duty roots sounds.

Hope this is helpful,
PAPA D

Dave,
E-mail me if you want to trade. I've been looking for the United Dreadlocks forever. I have most of the stuff I listed above.

Thanks for all your informative suggestions, if you think of any more, lay them down.

Papa D

Dont really have anything to trade, however if you wish to purchase the United Dreadlocks compilation, you can pick it up at www.system-records.co.uk which is where I purchased my copy.

Regards

Dave
