who is Lion Youth? Is it danchall, dee jay or roots ? worth getting ?

I'm sure we had a thread on him very recently - try a Search? Then again maybe it was over at B&F.

I remember suggesting he may have sung the normal vocal AND DJd himself on the 12" of Rat A Cut Bottle, but I don't remember anyone either agreeing or telling me I was completely wrong.

Rat A Cut Bottle came out on Virgo Stomach repress - better than its source material (Anthony Blackett, I think). His vocal style was a bit like Gregory Isaacs as I recall.

Yeah VC! Im vocal stylee is very influenced by Gregory Isaacs. "Rat a Cut Bottle" is a truly strong Cultural tune. Dis 12-inch is Crucial stuff. Mi tink Lion Youth imself is who mek DJ role on it (as Pablo Gad on "Hard Times") but nuh 100% sure

Agree that 'Rat A Cut Bottle' is HEAVY. But this album is a Lovers Rock affair par excellence. Go deh if you like.
Not much left of the Gregory Isaacs connection imho.
