Hi jm
In the liner notes of the 1989 Shanachie release it states.
"Incedible as it may seem, this album has not been released intact until now, nearly a decade after its 1979 gestatation".

The story that I have been told and I believe it is true due to the person that told it:
Glen Brown produced (had the money for it) and kept the tapes after getting them from King Tubby. But back in 1979 he was bankrupt and had no licensing deal to put out that album.
When general interest in his own music began to come back around 1988/9 through Greensleeves Records who put out some of his own productions culminating in the release of the treasured threesome of compilations 'Dubble Attack', 'Boat to Progress' and 'Check the Winner' he gave them the masters of the Sylford Walker record for release.

i've read the same as rootsman, it was released almost 10 years later, after it was completed, however, i don't believe there is a 1970's release.
