I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the names of the originals of the dubs on this album, which I've really been getting into:

I've checked out Dub Directory, but I'm not having any luck there... It'd be much appreciated.

Actually, there was three Michael Prophets dub LPs.

The one you are looking for infos has dubs from Michael Prophet's "Know Your Right" LP. I only have the dub set so I can confirm it but I remenber seeing this info in few readings. Anyway, a nice forumer would confirm and give the track by track info. BTW, I seems to remenber one tune from the dub come from another source.

The second one is the "Vocal & Dub" LP (http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2002#rel4601 ). I think, infos about this one can be found on the "Dub It To The Top" Blood & Fire reissue.


The third one is a rare one in it's original form. It surfaced in 1984 as a pre in jamaican and the title is "Michael Prophet Version Yabby You". I think, it was reissued as "Yabby You Meets Michael Prophet In Dub", not sure tho' as the title names don't match. I'll give it a spin later this week, but from memory it has 5 dubs on A side and 2 vocals and 3 dubs on B side.

on this set, could there be any dubs from the Yabby U / Michael Prophet / Wayne Wade set Prophecy http://www.roots-archives.com/release/387 ?

If not, would someone happen to know whether there are released dub cuts to any of the tunes from that set in the first place?

I recall hearing about a dubplate dub cut to the tune "Tell Us About Past History", but never heard the tune itself.

Would love to hear those dubs!

Sorry to revive a long dead thread... but I just heard a digital copy of the Yabby You meets Michael Prophet in Dub LP that was talked about here, and it's brilliant. I would love to get hold of a vinyl copy - does anybody know if it's particularly hard to find in it's reissued form:

and how much would you roughly expect to pay for a vinyl copy? I've hunted around online for this info, not having much luck.... any help would be really appreciated...

The release above is different from the one originally discussed on this thread...same as the B&F 'Dub It To The Top' set. Both releases been repressed during the last 10 years, Ernie B used to have them for years so i guess there are still copies floating around.

Regarding the original question - the Yabby/Prophet/Scientist set have 2 different versions with some different tracks on them. Here are the corresponding vocals for the one with the Yabby/Scientist photo (my copy is UK pressing on the Graylan label) :

Isn't "Dub It To the Top" a reissue of "Vocals and Dub"? (Great album, too).

"Meets Michael prophet in Dub" is a different release...

Yes, you are right - these 2 sets (vocal & dub/yabby meets prophet) overlap in more than half the tracks so quite confusing...
