I've asked regarding this tune before, and no one seems to recognize the lyrics (maybe because they are similar to lyrics from countless other songs, and without the melody it is hard to place them).

Early to mid 70s production. Harmony group-style (not a DJ). Steppers beat.

Do these lyrics ring a bell with anyone? It's a vocal group, not a DJ. Sounds like maybe the Heptones, but I can't really tell. Been searching for the name of this tune for years. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Respect.

Not sure if it's on a cd or lp but it is a 7" (Belmont Records) produced by Joe Gibbs.

I found it online labeled as The Afreques - Cool It Brothers (Belmont 7")

The Afreques? Is that the same as The Africans? If so, those guys were great. I have another 45 of theirs called "Have A Grand Time" that is killer. Thanks again!

Yes, oops. Sorry 'bout that. I always do this with the Afreques, Africans & African Brothers. But yes, Afreques - Cool It Brothers is precise.

I doubt they are the same group but I agree with you about that Africans 'Have A Grand Time' tune, it's a great one.

I am also looking for a song ID for many years now. In about 1980 I recorded a very strange reggae song from the local University of Michigan AM station. My friends and I got such a kick out of it we have been trying to find out who the artist is. I can't print the words as it is hard to understand it (singer is using a voice box) but the occasional horn and gargle sounds are quite amusing! Would anyone like a .wav file to see if they know who it is?
