Funky Roots

from time to time the i man enjoys the sounds of funk music in between di roots chunes. even better is when they merge into a heady groove inna both styles. i dont care much for the pop funk of third world or chalice, but a nice rootsy blend does nicely.

what are some of your favorite sets or songs that have a heavy funk influence?

...this thread comes to mind as i listen to this tappa set...several very funky tunes without being too cheesy ya'know...

ites! before i came to work today i started downloading the Mabrak and Delgado sets from above, they will both be waiting for i when i get home!!!

No one's ever done it better than Toots. Any of his albums has that soul/funk/reggae thing that blends them all together into one perfect sound.

Those who dig for records regularly know that just because a song title has "funk" or "funky" in the title doesn't mean it is so.

If you refer to the Studio One I listed, well I think it is. Now it is not Parliment or old school American funk, but it will do!
