Love that beep.
What was it used for? Maybe as a test signal to sound check the mixing board?

I remember scientist in an interview many years ago said it was feedback from the tape signal going back to the board, discovered by accident.

that to my knowledge was a continious cue tone, cut down to beeps everytime the button was pressed. as for the amount of records that has it at the start "countless" including dubplates which was overwashed with it. i believe Channel one studio had their version of the beep too.
