Scientist, Space Invaders and CD availability

I’ve just decided that I need a lot of the Scientist titles on Greensleeves (yeah, I should have realized that sooner). I’m going to buy a couple I’m missing through Ernie B soon, but I’m worried about getting some of the others, most specifically Space Invaders.

Is Scientist Meets the Space Invaders out of print?
Ernie doesn’t have it, and Amazon.com doesn’t even list it in their catalog, not even a used cd. They only have it as a digital download.

If it is out of print, does Greensleeves very often re-issue catalog titles, or is that too much to hope for?

I’m beginning to worry that, even though labels like Auralux, Pressure Sounds, Makasound, and even Trojan (and others) putting out reissues, with the proliferation of digital downloads and cd sales decreasing (r.i.p. Blood & Fire), the compact disc might be heading for the endangered species list.
I’m starting to think I should buy up everything I can think of now while they're still around.

Has anyone else had this feeling, or do you think I’m really off base here?

Thanks for any help and opinions,
tjkong

replying to my own thread already...

I just found this comment in the thread, "Pressure Sounds Re-issues"

"I also said this many times with Greensleeves about re-releasing hard to find titles from their database. I would gladly buy most of them! I'll have to wait and see if VP makes any of it possible now."

I thought I'd noticed a couple titles I associated with Greensleeves showing up on VP recently. This may be a naive question, but what's that about? Do they have a licensing deal with Greensleeves?

I have a few Scientist albums, including ...Space Invaders.

I went onto Amazon.co.uk & Greensleeves to look for some others recently and noticed that they are not listed anymore aswell.

This is one thing that bugs me a little about reggae when some great & interesting music is out of print.

i have had the same feelings as well... Get it while you can... If the budget allows it why not, but i learned not to fret. You gotta think, this music was created some 30+ years ago(thats older than me)and you can still find it. its possible to still find Bach music! anyways Reggae isn't a fad it will never go out, just like punk rock. it may be hard to find music at times, but you know there will always be people putting money into releasing this stuff because they believe in it.

True enough, Mr.Mountian. If anything, it might be that even more "reissues" might become possible as digital downloads than as cds, since I'd have to guess that it's more cost-effective. Heck, I can get Scientist Meets The Space Invaders today for $9 as a digital download album through Amazon.com. I may have to settle for that (actually, I'll get it through emusic). But I can't help but feel that's it's just not the same.

I never got into vinyl too heavily, and I guess I'm glad when I think of how much I could spend that way, but I still feel the same about the records that I do have. I'd never sell them.

I think I've got to start a serious cd purchasing program!
