I recently read this... But highly doubt of this information... To me, the voices are different.
Then why should McKay use another names for roots specials, because his name was associated with lovers? That would forget all his mighty roots released and sought after under his real name... Jah Love I, Your Cup Is Full....
I wonder who is this Chester Coke, why hhe is the only man produced by Rod Taylor on his label *Solid State*...
Any info?

I admit they sound alike - but then again, that's happens with other artists too.
What I can't figure out though, why would Freddy McKay sing under another name - especially during this period of his career?
Didn't he do a fair amount of work for well-known and one-off producers and various labels during these years, yet he still did them under the name Freddy McKay?
Anyone heard a (relatively recent) song by Nanko called 'From Ever Since' ? Even though it's a new thing, there are moments in that song where I hear a lot of Freddy McKay going on... it tripped me out pretty good! Will post some of it later on.
My bet still sits with Chester being Chester.

Found this post on a google search & wondered the same thing. I came across a 7" , Sharon Little - Jah Love is Gold on the gorgon label and it it credited to "C. Coke" also.
