dance was totally rammed. venue was ok - gate fee was steep - 20 dollar! shaka was on fine form - not a 'promised land' in sight you'll all be suitably satisified to hear (but he did play a 2008 version of 'prophecy'. few digital dubs and roots, but also some solid roots music. everyone was on their best behaviour, all tribes were represented. sound system took a while to warm up, but when the place was full (and it was totally full, I could hardly breathe let alone move at about 3.30) it sounded sweet. as you would expect the bass was awesome, klaxons in full effect. lots of new tunes i wasn't privy too, some old classics - Ijahman levi, luciano, paul fox. so much for the smoking ban too. Can't complain as I have been on the wagon for 18 months so made the most of the breach. I was soaked by the time we left (about 4.30 as I had to get back across London before the two kids woke up or I would have paid the price all day). well worth reaching for, I'd reccomend the venue as well, the dub conference sessions they hold there must be worth making the effort for.

yes the dance was great.
lots of uk/europe digi dubs have been played: digital rockers (blow down babylon - far east KILLER), black wheat (sista rasheda new 12, and I natural farover) , black legacy (carlton livingston riots in the city, and dubwise warriors) , moa ambessa (ital - sisat 40 battle of jericho), river bank (t stelin keep strong), roots injection (blind sista mary), blackamix (fire chant prince malachi) and so many more...
Also some vintage tracks, few dubplates and Ja nu roots too.
Almost no words from shaka though.

Money, if I'm correct the modern version of prophecy is the one from Aisha, originally released on 12" on ariwa and freshly repressed on a ariwa 7.

Venue is great and I hope roofshaker will continue to set up these regular dances there.
