hail idrens,
i have been pairing up albums with their dub counterparts lately, spinning the dubs after the vocal disc is done. playing the sets back to back really emphasize the changes made to the version LP. here are a few i have found to (IMO) have better dub counterparts...
[cover=2890,3315] vs [cover=2891,3316] jammy mix is dread heavy!
[cover=7552,1500] vs [cover=2213,2565]
[cover=735,858] vs [cover=1202,1388]
[cover=2520,2900] vs [cover=4610,1831]
what other pairs can you think of where you like the dub set better than the vocal?

You will kill me for this, but I like:
[cover=2400,2770] better than [cover=3,2]

More controversy
[cover=1571,1819] v. [cover=2430,2798]
I love both but, I listen to the dub more often.
(Also, apologies to the vinyl posse-- but those are the "jackets" I am familiar with)

Prefer the 'dub' much , much more.

Hi Jahganja7
I totally disagree with you regarding "Message From The King". I've been listening to it regularly for 30 years, but can barely listen to Chapter 1.
What on earth, for example, have they done to "Concrete Column"?
Just my opinion, of course!

hey 6anbatte, i knew i was gonna hear something about that choice

!
It was a close call, but IMO message from the king pales in comparison to 'free from sin' or 'livity', which i listen to much more. the riddims of 'message' don't do Far I's chanting style justice the same as those on 'free from sin' do. although 'message' is one of my favorite albums, when i want to hear King Cry Cry chant, i am more likely to reach for 'sin' ...
as always, to each their own...

Hey Jahganja7
As you say each to his own.
Very difficult for me to be objective as there is so much nostalgia in those grooves *and* every riddim is scorched into my soul!
Still can't believe what they did with "Concrete Column" though.

totally agree with jammy's in the light dub - can't put my finger on why the vocal set feels somewhat lacking but Jammy's mix hits you like a brick

@Matthew + others
Ites deh,
didn´t know there´s a kaya dub album. Couldn´t find it here in the database.
Same Wailers on the tracks or another band like Delix on the Uprising Dub or Chalawa on Exodus Dub?
When released + where can I buy it?
Please...let me know some more.
Bless,
I-Lion
