Is Ganja/Weed Legal In Jamaica

a friend of mine frm da island told me dat it is not legal..is that true?, I THOUGHT GANJA HAS LONG BEEN LEGALIZED IN JAMAICA!, i was really suprised to learn dat it is illegal!!!!!!

still illegal. about 4 month ago there was a political meeting on dat but i dont think it is fully legal already

So there is nowhere in de world where u can have a take a spliff of the herb freely. But many reggae artist especially Jamaicans like smoking weed on stages during their live performances......Are they allowed to do so buy host countries? Even the fans smoke during des concerts., What is the Jamaica goverment saying about dem people advocating fe de legalization of Ganja. I think here in Botswana one will JAILED for calling for the legalization of Ganja. GANJA is stricky prohibited here..but a lot of people take it especially youths..Many of them have been convicted for possessing and taking it ....

I saw Horace Andy in London about three years ago. He openly smoked a bong pipe just off stage.
This is very illegal here but seems to be tolerated under certain circumstances.
Recently the Government has talked about re-classifying weed to make the penalties more severe. We have three classifications. A - for Heroin etc. B for, I'm not sure what, but soon weed and some while back was weed. C for 'mild' drugs, currently weed is in this class.
Strange things is a they ignored their own advice NOT to reclassify weed. They also ignored similar advice suggesting that alcohol would be classed as A under 'normal' circumstances.

all is relativ Man. Inna holland yu can smoke de weed wid certain assurance becas it´s politically legal deh
there´s places where exist certain permissiveness although it´s politically illegal. Dem seh yu can get a likkle fi wat dem call "private consume" an dem seh yu hav your "rights" fi call fi de legalization but yu can go to jail if babylonmen find yu wid wat dem can judge nuff amount of weed or also yu can go to jail if babylonmen find yu working ina big cultivation
dem also having permissiveness when dem know there´s a event (like concerts or festivals) where a lot of people or almost all or all de people who will be deh smoke cannabis, yunno

amsterdam the herb is fully legal, in california all you need to do is pay $100 for a medical card then herb is legal for you. here in new york its very decriminalized, anything under an ounce is the same as a traffic ticket.

Not only in Amsterdam, but everywhere in Holland. As long you only have both possession and production for personal use, it's cool.
Though, the Dutch rates of drug use are lower than U.S. rates. Rather funny.
Anyway, long live the Netherlands =)

... smoking weed is Holland is not legal! it's being tolerated. you can smoke in a coffee-shop or at home but not in parks and on the street. You can only buy 5 grams at a time, you have to be older then 18, growing for personal use is allowed but only under certain rules!
It used to be a lot better and as i've heard things are going to get a lot harder!
15 years ago we got pulled over, 6 youths in a car, total amount of hasj & weed ... round 90 grams, copper saw my id and noticed it was my birthday ... result ... here's your ganja, drive home safe and have a nice birthday ...
4 years ago, got pulled over driving my motorcycle, they find my weed, little more then 10 grams ... result ... they took my weed, had to pay a fine for driving under the influence of ganja, had to leave my motor a the police-station, take the train back to Belgium, ... next day back to Holland to get the bike and i get a total body search and a police escort to the border ...
Fuck the Dutch politrics and grow your own pot! Coffee-shop weed is bad stuff anyway, enhanced like crazy, they charge you too much, it involves a lot of youths to do the trafficking, ... once saw a docu on that topic and never again shall i get my weed from the shop
