Having enjoyed people`s examples of favourite 10 Dub albums & Roots albums. How about a top 5 list of favourite / crucial various artist compilations.

I suggest this as I am fairly new into reggae and would like to hear a variety of artists and their work before deciding whether to purchase these artists albums and was wondering what would be worthwhile compilations to have.

Morris,

This thread is a good idea. I have been a lover of roots / dub reggae for a number of years but due family commitments have neither the time no money to go hunting rare and deleted titles.

Purchasing various artist compilations is probably the only way you are ever going to own some of these rare classic gems.

I have to agree with Sufferer`s recommendations as he has put me onto several excellent titles.

You might also want to check out these 3 Nighthawk compilations which Sufferer all recommended to me. They are:

Calling Rastafari
Knotty Vision
Wiser Dread.

Also check out

United Dreadlocks
Babylon a Fall Down
Roots Techniques
Open the Gate
Observation Station
Jack Ruby Black Foundation

There are many more, but i`m sure others will put forth their opinions.
Respect

Dave
