Hi
I assume most of Pablo fans know that there are some pressing of Mundell's "Africa Must Be Free By 1983" on Message (Jam press from circa 80) which feature a bonus and uncredited dub. This version of the LP has 1 more track on side 1 which is the dub to "Book Of Rules" on the KTMRU rhythm. Otherwise the other tunes on the side 1 are slighty speeded up compare to the classic editing.
I would like to know if this dub is different to the one that is on the dub counterpart set...
thanx all

Hi wareika,
you mean "Book of Life", don't you.
It's again a fascinating story with this pressing. The bonus dub at the end of side one is different to the mix on the original 'Africa must be free dub', called there 'Levi/Livi Dub'.
The bonus track is more like the rhythm track to the vocal, though mixed in dubstyle. It misses the otherwise prominent keyboard licks and the horns are far away in the mix. It also is different to its companion from 'King Tubby meets Rockers Uptown'.
'Book of Life' was released on 7" and 12" single formats on Rockers label and it's quite possible that this bonus is the original version from these singles. I can't approve on that but maybe someone else can do.

Greetings

Thanx a lot for your answer. Yes it is "Book of Life".
You confirm what I though. Actually I only have the mp3 of "Levi dub" and it's quite hard to compare a crappy mp3 with a tune from an LP... I matched the differences regarding horn mixed far, but as I didn't compared using two sources of the same quality, I was not sure. Anyway monday i'll pick up a copy of the dub set on original jam press. I can't wait...
It's funny they release this LP with a bonus track at one pouint. Mine is a Message pre without infos on label but the proper sleeve.

The untitled bonus dub track is not on any 7" or 12" issues & is exclusive to that LP.

Hugh Mundell 'Book Of Life' (printed as Book of Live) on US Rockers label 12" has a vocal/deejay discomix. The twist is, that on the deejay section the deejay is... Hugh Mundell.
