I noticed that these early digital singers had entries in RA. Got me to wondering......Many of you have expressed some disapproval for current digital dancehall sounds, but what about these three? What are your opinions?

I began to enjoy this period recently and can listen to it and enjoy though not as much as roots or early dancehall.
Out of the three, I like the sounds of Tenor Saw most but have some of Nitty's LPs and 1 of King Kong's.

I'm a big fan of King Kong's Trouble Again LP...

It was released in '86 but maybe some of the tracks were recorded in '85 .

I love King Kong sound. Nitty Gritty is also good. And Tenor Saw is super! These men have some great songs. They are great singers that were in that era of digital.
But most of there songs are from roots foundation. Respect!

Going a little further into dangerous territory, I've been listening to [Taurus Presents a Salute to King Tubby](http://www.riddimguide.com/recdb/680/) a LOT lately. It's quite a moving tribute to the great man, produced very quickly after Tubby was killed in 1989. All of the songs and lyrics here are really obviously heartfelt, yet it's overall positive and defiant in tone as well.

I have nothing against digital music, but I listened to that taurus album recently, and in my opinion it's quite bogus ( there's also a vol 2 btw )

I would say this album (and it's dub counterpart/vol2) is superior to that taurus album:

Interesting. I have Soundclash Dubplate Style as well, and I love it. It's quite different form Salute to King Tubby, and I enjoy both equally (but for different reasons).

In what way do you think the Taurus album is "bogus"?

well, It's sounds kinda cheap, I dunno, sound like it was made in a sunday afternoon and than put on a record just to make some quick money.

I can be wrong but it sounds like somebody had a lack of interest in the music and just wanted to make some money. I experienced that with quite a few digital singles ( I've heard many very lame remakes of songs from Simply red, the Petshop boys and the Jackson five for example )

Well, that's the cynical way of looking at it. But I don't think Johnny Osbourne, Peego, King Everald and co would be so disrespectful to King Tubby's memory. As one of the lyrics on the Salute album says, "King Tubby kept the yutes out of poverty" and "was a man who loved his community". If this was just a cash-in, all of the people involved did a *really* good impression of respecting and missing Osbourne Ruddock.
