Can anyone give me any info about this group and about their first album which I believe was titled "Warning". I think they were a harmony group but I cannot find them listed on R.A.

Are they any good ? and is the above album crucial, Good, worth purchasing or avoided.

I could be wrong here but Black Eagles were a BAND from the US Late 70's. Their lead singer was DENROY MORGAN who went on to do a solo career. His kids went on to form MORGAN HERITAGE. I personally think the album WARNING is NOT good with maybe 1 or 2 good songs. I would hold off on this one for a while unless someone has a better opinion

i have dat one,its not a crucial album for the vocals but its very good for my taste.
yes they are from the 70, Sounds good enough,If you love roots reggae,gospel backing vocals.

I dont like only "forward home" on this album, all the others goods with 4 greats and subtile ones for my tastes... Its hard when i like a positive vibes album, this one is fine for me, funny all this different tastes! ^^

i'd say it's worth picking up, as it's been said, some very nice songs are in it and it is quite original. The horn lines are unusual, you should test. cheers

Is this group in any way the same group that did a couple of cuts on the album Jack Ruby Presents The Black Foundation? And if not, does anyone have any info on that group?

No,it's not the same group. The Eagles were harmony group created by Horace "Brownie Eagle" Johnson from (like Jack Ruby) the parish of St. Ann's. In the late 60s and early 70s they recorded several cuts for many producers including Coxson, Duke Reid and Byron Lee. In the mid 70's Johnson returned to St. Ann's parish and he met up with Jack Ruby who took him back to Randy's in Kingston where he recorded "Rasta Harvest" and "Warn The Nation" in one session backed by the Black Disciples. All the harmonies were by Horace himself.

I suppose that their reggae songs are available only on 7" singles.
Horace Johnson recorded four songs at Studio One: "Penny Penny", "Sweet Soul Music", "Slave Master" and "What An Agony" but only the last was released on a blank Studio One label in the late 60s.
In the early 70s for Duke Reid The Eagles recorded "Rub It Down" and "Enemies Can't Hurt" (released in 1972). They next moved to Federal where they recorded their greatest hit "Country Living" (August 1973),"It's So Nice", "Don't Look Back" and "Eagle Brand".
For Byron Lee's Dynamic's label they recorded "No Jah".Then Horace Johnson released solo record "Paradise Island" for Moodies.
There is also mento album from 1979 - Horace Johnson & The Eagle Star" Calypso Rock Songs Of Jamaica".

The "Warning" LP should have been a good one if it was not overdub in US. Those overdubs are not realy good.

Still a nice LP with a kinda of Black Ark taste that is not totaly destroyed by the overdubs.
