I heard a Jah Berry tune at the Wailing Souls concert at the belly up in San Diego. It was a killer tune that keep me skanking till the dj stop playing it. Don't know what it's called but he rode the rythum oh so nice. Any info on this rasta would be good.

This is truly fantastic dub album:

The extended DJ part of Steve Boswell's "Cool Rastaman" is top ranking. "When I was down and out / I never know the door to walk out / John Public just a run off him mouth / Man them never know what them talking about"

From what I've understood there's two different Jah Berry's.

Yes Kalcidis... Jah Berry and Prince Hammer are two different people, although Prince Hammer due to his name was called Berry...
I was searching about this long time ago...
The Prince Hammer profile here in RA shows a fascinating interview by Peter I...
http://www.reggae-vibes.com/concert/prh ... hammer.htm

From the second page:
A: No, I start off with Berris Simpson, my right name.

Q: It's a bit confusing which one is your right name, I've seen about three different spellings or variations, one is Beres, one is Berris, and another one is Berry.

A: Yes. Well, you see, they used to call me 'Jah Berry'.
Q: So you are the one who cut tunes for Roy Francis' label Phase One, as Jah Berry?

A: No. But they used to call me Jah Berry, and it's true Glen Brown wife use to call me Jah Berry, right. But my right name, when I was born my birth-paper show me that my name spelled as B - e - r - i - s, right. But when I looked into the terms myself, for my own a feeling, I spell it as B - e - r - r - i - s, so I've add a single 'R' to my name, which is not really on my birth-paper. So that's why you get things mix-up there, y'know wha' I mean, because I just spell it different ways. But my birth is really B - e - r - i - s. And like Beres Hammond even now, he spell B - e - r - e - s, yunno. His name is spelled different from me, even though it's pronounced 'Berris'.

From the Album We Are Getting Bad (The Sound of Phase One) [cover=1960,2316]... Roy Francis says...
...Jah Berry, I met him at Joe Gibbs' when we do "Waiting in the Park", he's a guy who come from somewhere down Maxfield Avenue, tell me he's a deejay. I say, "OK, deejay something, make me hear". I have an album with him right now which I didn't put out, but I think the only somebody Jah Berry record is for me- I don't even think he did record for nobody else; he's a baldhead, living in the States now...

If you listen to both of them closely, you realize that they are two different (and wicked) Deejays...
The Prince Hammer profile should be modified... Albums and productions are by Prince Hammer, but Roy Francis productions (Children of Jah, We are Getting Bad and Sister Bella tracks) are by Jah Berry...
Two wicked Deejays anyway...
Sorry mates... I'm from Spain and don't express myself properly yet...
Greetings DOOP!
