Tonight 25/06/08 Dub Vendor hold a closing Down party at Neighbourhood AKA Subterania.
I only heard the news 2 days ago that Dub Vendor's record shack in Ladbroke grove is closing up shop.
I started using this store about 25 years ago and it plays a big part in my Reggae upbringing,i could barely see over the counter when i first discovered this Reggae Haven.
I remember being a meager 14 year old in this rammed out store on a saturday morning alongside the majority of the country's soundmen and when Martin played the new tune fresh from JA you would have about 8 bars to decide whether you want the tune or not, leave it any longer than that and you would be waiting another week for the next delivery from JA.
I witnessed the whole Jammys explosion in this very store and saved up my school dinner and paper round money to keep up with Jammys outrageous output.
This is a sad day for me,but i will be at The venue Neighbourhood Aka Subterania tonight to celebrate the memories of this great stalwart in uk reggae history.
I will also be looking out for dem soundmen that used to squeeze me out when i was a lickle yute;)
Blessed
