THE DISCIPLES vs FABLE SOUNDSYSTEM Sat 5th July, Southall London
Posted: Sat Jun 28, 2008 6:40 pm
We're proud to announce the long-awaited return of the Disciples to
Southall where operator/selector Russ D will be taking full control of
Fable Soundsystem for the first time.
For the unfamiliar, The Disciples were integral in forging what became the
distinct sound of UK digital dub during the late 80s and throughout the
90s. Beginning their careers producing exclusive dubplates for the
legendary Jah Shaka Soundsystem, they subsequently went on to release
material on the Jah Shaka imprint which inevitably led to the release of a catalogue of ground-breaking digital productions on their own labels Boom-Shacka-Lacka (also the name of their own soundsystem during the 90s) and later Backyard Movements which describes more traditional reggae patterns with vocals. The Disciples have since released material on countless other labels, produced and mixed for countless artists and studios from the UK and beyond and are the first port of call for soundsystem dubplate artillery. Among the abundance of digitally produced releases over the last twenty or so years, The Disciples name has consistently delivered quality satisfaction with a sound that remains hugely influential.
Anticipate a night of premium dubplate slaughtery from the Disciples stable as well as a taste of Russ D’s vast collection of roots & culture, not to mention a sonic feast from Southall’s very own Fable Sound Crew...all run through the new and improved Fable Soundsystem.
Love!
