Greetings All
I'd like to have more infos on that group
I know they are from Jamaica and i know only 2 tunes of them :
Aksumites - Afrika Fede Afrikan (Aksum Records) coptic production
Aksumites (A.McCalla) - Ark of the Covenant (Thebes Sounds) Produced by Aksum of Freedom Sound in 1979
I think the Singer is A. McCalla
Did they made other records? i hear about an LP but i don't know nothing. If we have any other infos please help me!

http://www.roots-archives.com/release/1 ... ight=23365
credited on the record to Auxumite and writing credits are to A.McCalla
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/1 ... ight=18201
this one credited to Joe Auxumite on record as well as writers credits.
I recall the name of A.(=Andrew?) McCalla from somewhere else but right now my memory serves me not too well.
Maybe someone else can go from here to complete the story

Thanks Bellyman
I find out that the Thebes label was from USA and not from Jamaica , so i think they are a New York Group , i was confused when i read : Produced by Aksum of Freedom Sound , but now i think that thebes (ark of the covenant) and Askum (Afrika fede Afrikan) are same or very similar label! Nice to know they deal with wackies , i'll search for these tunes!

Joe Auxumite did some early singles on wackies/city line, just like Mccalla did.....
7" Aires - A Mccalla - born to be loved

7" Aires - Mccalla - home by the sea
7" Aires - Mccalla - new sensation
7" City Line - Joe Axumite - no equal rights in babylon.

that 7" city line was engineered by Douglas Levy ( better known as Prince Douglas ) I wonder what ever happened to him, is he still alive ?

interesting!!! Should be nice to hear a small clip of Cool Running , if it's like Ark of The Covenant...it's surely a great roots tune!
7" City Line - Joe Axumite - no equal rights in babylon.
I know this one but i didn't collegate the group with this singer because i was sure that Aksumites was from Jamaica! Nice tune too!

I recently got a 7" where there is written like this:
Rainy Weather - Dudley Evans (Aksumites), recorded for Honey Pot label, produced by Dudley Evans. It is nyabinghi drumming song.
I don't know if this are the same Aksumites or not but if someone have more information on this I would appreciate it a lot!
bless!
