General Shanky, an artist from Jamaica, has been uploading his stuff for us all to hear at my download engine.

You all know I don't have much of an ear for 'modern' reggae but this guy might be about to change all of that.

I'm completely hooked on his track 'Jamaican Stuff' which I even reckon could be a great crossover hit. It is very catchy, lend it your ear a few times and I reckon, like me, you'll be singing to yourself for days afterwards.

Last night (UK time) The General uploaded a batch of four of his chunes. Please go and have a listen and tell us all what you think of his efforts.

You''ll find them in the /reggae music/new music folder on www.leggorockers.com/downloads

Please remember that you need to register and sign in to get the fast speeds on downloads. Hotmail users will find that the membership confirmation email is blocked or spam binned. But worry not, I'll be approving you all manually anyway so just remember your log in and password and simply log in. I usually get all new members approved within a few hours.

Are you hotmail? I have LOADS of trouble getting through to Microdork Sh+tmail accounts.

Just sign in with your chosen log in and password. I activate all the accounts manually anyway so it shoul still work.

PM me if you need help.

I've now turned off the registration email activation thing. So now anyone should be able to join and get started without waiting for an email to arrive back. I hope.

While you are there, check out the work of Full-Clip (he's an long time R-A member by another name).

I especially like his version of the Come on Little Girl track.

Massive!

And to crown it all, we have some excellent dubs from the Mighty Z to listen to.

Reggae Music, alive and well!

Please keep the new music coming guys.

um, yeah this Jamaican Stuff track - would work really well for...tourists just getting off the bus from the airport.

It is not 'bad' but, but, but...

Well at least it has some sort of bassline - whether it is reggae or more akin to some mutation of Eurodisco is another matter.
Hopefully i will not be singing this in my head ever.

On a positive note, the guy does have a reasonable sounding voice and has some amusing lyrics - for my tastes he needs to fix the music! I don't expect that to happen in a hurry. This could be very popular - I don't really understand that whole area of appealing to the masses so my opinion is probably irrelevant.

The downloads work just find - very zippy indeed.
Maybe I'll upload some pre-releases of my new dub stuff.

Yeah well I did say it was a cross-over tune. ;)

Why do guys do that? Well I guess they are fed up with working for the rich man and would like to make some dunza for a change.

I would if I could.

In fact I have. I want to write novels but spent the last 15 years writing other stuff just to earn money. But at least I was writing for a living, not working on the chain gang like the masses.

And please guys, do upload your stuff to the New Music section.

Downloaded a few of the tracks. Some nice work. Positive lyrics.
