why did they come out with two live LP's first before a studio album? was it because they were only releasing 45's before the live albums?

They had only released one 45 before their live albums. Don't really know why they released two different live sets prior to their studio album. A guess could be since they where such an active live group that they simply focused on touring and that they realised that they are something special when live and therefore wanted listeners from everywhere to be able to hear it - even if they couldn't attend their gigs.
Misty Over Sweden is a set I never get tired of.

The label on "Misty In Sweden" says "Produced in cooperation with People Unite" so I guess that Nacksving approached them to ask if they could release the recording as opposed to it being a specifically scheduled album.
Once they heard the recording they obviously thought it was so good that they had to give it their blessing!
Just guessing, of course.

Correct me if I'm wrong but back in the days Misty in Roots was independent from the start and they wanted to keep control over their recordings. They were touring and appeared on most 'ROCK AGAINST RACISM'-shows and other alternative/independent festivals, which means no or low profits at all.
Keep in mind that they were quite a big line-up including their community compared to other groups who were one or two steps further like Aswad or Steel Pulse (who were signed to international record companies, a way that was strictly 'no-go' for Misty in Roots).
Simply, they had to wait to collect the money before buying studio time.

Maybe simply because they're one of the few reggae acts way better live than in the studio...
