We already discussed what would have been the evolution of Marley's music if he had worked with other musicians, in particular with sly and robby.

With this topic I would like to know what are the songs and singles that Bob has recorded without the Wailers, at least without Carly and Family man (in addition to Concrete Jungle that features Robbie Shakespeare). I think there might be a few but I'm not a specialist of Bob Marley and his rarities.

I just know I heard once a song that was going like "Babylon a go feel this one", it was wicked.

The tune you mention is "Babylon Feel Dis One", its a great demo, that was put on acetate and is played by Killamanjaro.

There are many demos like dis one...
There is a full digital session by Marley too! The vocal from "Slogan" released not long ago has been taken from dis demo. I guess it was only easier to start his composition pon a drum machine, cause he was not about to fire the Wailers.

Of what I remember, "Wake Up And Live", on the Survival album, that was written by Sangie Davis, has Malawi on drums, and Flabba on bass... Because Barrett's brothers refused to play Sangie's composition... If Im right, there is another tune on Survival written by Sangie that has the same players pattern.

Demos without the Wailers... for example "She used to call me dada" (Sangie again wrote it), or Bass is heavy (one digital riddim and one with a guitarist I dont remember the name...)

You can also find **Rastaman Live Up** done with **The Meditations** as background vocals.

I was surprised on how many tracks he was not backed by the Wailers/Barrett brothers. Even on the Island albums there are some wellknown tracks who were done either by Soul Syndicate or other musicians.

I have to go back to John Masouri's great book 'Wailing Blues - The Story of Bob Marley's Wailers' to sort these tracks out. Btw, this is highly enjoyable reading. Telling the story from Familyman's point of view and revealing something more of the quarrels and hassles that went on, even during Marley's lifetime.

Based on the liner notes of the Island releases, it seemed that the musicians were always the core Wailers. Aside from the "special thanks" to Santa, doesn't it seem a bit shady that these other musicians weren't named in the credits? Luckily Suge Knight wasn't involved or Chris Blackwell might have found himself being dangled off a high-rise balcony.

I'd really love to hear more of this demos you're talking about Litelet. I remember the Killamanjaro demo was discussed earlier, I didn't know it was this song, I really, dig it, but I just heard it once. How are those songs accessible (or inaccessible..)?

ps to rasdragon : I knew that he worked with the Meditations cause they were said to have a similar vibe to the orignal Wailers, but I've never heard this version of rastaman live up, must be great

the two songs punky reggae party and keep on moving (the london version) were also recorded with members from aswad and third world

Wake Up and Live: Mickey Boo (drums)and Val Douglas (bass) not Flabba or Albert Illawi.
Soul Syndicate don't play on Island records, only Santa on a few tracks ( Chinna was also a Wailer for a couple of years)
