I thought that sketch was so hilarious I made it my ring tone. However, when I posted it in the Reggae Stereotypes thread, it didn't get much of a reaction.

I encountered many "Ras Trents" at the Saturday Market during my college years in Eugene, Oregon. I was even called a crazy baldhead at a Skatalites concert at the Wow Hall. My Ras Trent would have had a hackey sack, a frisbee, a $1,000 mountain bike, and a $300 North Face jacket.

Also, I googled it, and found there is a real Ras Trent who plays sax and keys for a band called New World Beat. I wonder what he thinks about this sketch.

I've seen "Ras Trents" growing up near Santa Cruz, CA and they have always annoyed the hell out of me.

I thought the part where he was walking by the Jamaicans and then started mumbling his song quietly was hilarious.

I think it's ridiculous!

It is soooo funny, cause he really covered all the phrases and sayings that these wannabe kooks are using. An he really captured the essence of how these same kooks are using these words out of context!! But listen, I am white, and I DO NOT take offense to this skit, because I know that these "ras trents" of the world are of all different colors and nationalities...and NOT exclusive to white-boys.

I thought the writers of the skit, hit the nail right on the head!!! They weren't making fun of Rastas nor Reggae...rather commenting on the hilarity present when serious reggae heads think they have to "Act Rasta" just becasue they love reggae! When we all know that that not all reggae is Rasta Music. While they are closely related in many fashions, the fact is they are two completly different phenomenon.

I thought it was hilarious and Andy Samberg was spot-on with this skit.

Looks like this new 'star' to me, eh, ahem, whatshisname....Alboposey or something like that...

Naah, Alborosie has some pretty decent tunes imho..
