Hello dear Reggae-Lovers,
what I really love in Reggae music are these african & very ancient sounding horn lines.
Some examples:
Knowledge - "Sentry"
Max Romeo - "Valley of the Jehosaphat"
Glen Brown & King Tubby - "Save Out Dub"
Vivian Jackson & The Defenders (Yabby You) - "Love Thy Neighbour"
African Brothers - "Righteous Kingdom"
Johnny Osbourne - "Nyah Man"
Maybe you know what kind of sound I'm thinking of.
So my question is: Do you guys have any recommendations?
Much Thanks & Blessings
pete

Hi there Pete!
I was tempted some time ago to start a similar thread...
That sound you speak, Dread Horns I would say,
horns arrangements like intros in some tracks...
Sounds of lightning and thunder!
Some examples of the thing I am telling...
Creole - Creation
Prince Alla - Bozrah
Dicky Burton - God is watching you
Devon Irons & Dr Alimantado - Vampire
Hugo Blackwood & Dr Alimantado - Reggae Music
Horace Andy - Zion Gate
Horace Andy - My guiding star
Horace Andy - Money is the root of all evil
So many tracks with this sound at Black Ark!

I too, love all dose titles you credit, Pete...
Not to forget the killest horns of *Alton Allis - True Born African*....
Thats my definition of the perfection in this style... Ruuufff!!
But a lot more....
Burning Spear - Door Peeper... of course!
Yvonne Sterling - Oh Jah (deadly long horns intro)
On the 12 Tribes Showcase *The Creators - Send Us Home*
Caleb Sweetback - Darling Oh
Ritchie McDonald - Broad Road (especially on the 12" with extra horns overdubs)
Abyssinians - Prophecy
In more UK style, I love the dark horns of *The Moonrocks & Prince Jazzbo - Have No Fear*
In UK Vibes, the intro of "Vivian Jones - Red Eyes* is great too... less dark but nice.
