Years ago I was in Third World records in Tottenham, and a tune was being played which was the Mr Bossman rythmn. The lyrics went 'Cool down son cool down, cool down your temper'. Which used the same melody as Mr Bossman. It sounded like it was Linval Thompson singing. I didn't have time to ask, I thought I'd come back, but never got round to it.

Can anyone id the tune?

Linval Thompson - Rastafari Is My Religion (aka Mr Bossman)
Freddy Mckay - Cool Down Your Temper
Roman Stewart - What You Gonna Do

I dont think we're talking about the same track/rythmn.

I've got Rastafari is may Religion, its on a Blood and Fire compilation, and its not the same as the Mr Bossman rythmn. Mr Bossman was a 12" in the Strong Like Samson label, the b side was a version by Ranking Trevor called Stop Pushing Me Around.

The track I heard in Third World used the same rythmn. I haven't heard the Freddie Mckay tune so I don't know if its the one I'm on about.

I've heard the Roman Stewart track, the rythmn is very similar but its not the same one, and its not the one I was thinking of.

My bad, i did not check closely the Mr Bossman song, i am sure he says "Mr Bossman" in Rastafari Is My Religion too, but it was early in the morning for me and the mind was not working full tilt, but the lyrics of "cool down son, cool down, cool down your temper" is the same as what Freddy Mckay sings, but he`s definitely singing on the Rastafari Is My Religion rhythm.

It looks like it its the Freddy Mckay tune then. It would be interesting to hear it, its the melody line was identical to Mr Bossman, it may well be that I thought the rythmn was the same.

I haven't heard the Six Babylon album but i suspect its the same track. The 12" came out in around 1980 so there's I good chance its the same track.
