I'd say: 'go for the Upsetter produced albums", like:

- Party Time (Heptones)
- Police & Thieves (Junior Murvin)
- Colombia Colly (Jah Lion)
- To Be a Lover (George Faith)
- To Love Somebody (Bunny Scott)
- Susan Cadogan
- Prisoner Of Love (Dave Barker)
- Beat Down Babylon (Junior Byles)
- War Ina Babylon (Max Romeo)
- Ital Corner (Prince Jazzbo)
- Love Thy Neighbour (Ras Michael)

Further recommendations:

Open The Gate (double CD on Trojan records)
Build The Ark (double CD on Trojan records)

Both sets features strong selections of late Upsestter singles (including their dubs / versions). Sadly, both CD's are out of print, but can sometimes be found on Ebay and / or Amazon.

Also the "Turn and Fire" LP is agood choice. Great extended Heptones mixes

And do you have already the Perry produced albums (??):
Congo's - Heart of the Congo's
Party Time - The Heptones
Jah Lion - Columbian Colly
Prince Jazzbo - Ital Corner
Jolly Brothers - Conscious Man
War Ina Babylon - Max Romeo
Junior Murvin - Police & Thieves

Hope this helps

Thanks for the quick replies:

Leggo: I've had this one and the others recommended by ks on my want list for a while

Open The Gate (double CD on Trojan records)
Build The Ark (double CD on Trojan records)

Ron and ks: I have all of those except

- To Love Somebody (Bunny Scott)
- Susan Cadogan
- Love Thy Neighbour (Ras Michael)
- Jolly Brothers - Conscious Man

So I definitely be on the look out for them.

Thank you,
Chris

Chapter 3 "live as one" (trojan 440), although this CD is less essential as "Word of my mouth" and chapter 2 of words.

Needless to say, check this site:

I always bang on about these albums, but they really are unbelievably good:

[cover=6130,3854] [cover=3650,3855]

Essential.

Dubs_West: I've looked at the African Roots (Heart of the Congo) album a bunch of times and never made the purchase, I think now might be the time.

Mr. Mountain: I agree on the Slickers, I'll look for the others.

Jonti: Thanks for the tip, I'll try to track those down.

J.J.: Are you saying that all of those are essential, if so I've got my work cut out for me.

Thank you to everyone for the suggestions!

Chris
