Which studio sound has always appealed to you upon hearing the records recorded or mixed there, vinyl/tape/ any other audio format ??
I know with some of you guys that you like more than one studio, but i would like to get your views on studio sounds in your own words

Hopefully a topic is not restricted to a forum, dear *Visitor*...

Took me some times to feel the differences between studios, and still nowadays I cant guarantee always that Im right... except for early St1.

Well... Im a fan of the **Ark** sound on the drums, in particular, snare and kick have a special sound I enjoy a lot... The sound of the phaser on the guitar is special too and I love it...

**Studio One**, early 70s has a very special groove, on guitar and organ in particular... Murder

Ive realised that a lot of mid 70s records I enjoy for their recordings come from **Harry J**, though I couldnt define what makes them different, probably more the fact that Tubby was on soundboard...

Im not a real fan of Channel One's sound or Bunny Lee's recordings, I find them usually a bit flat. The early 80s changes in equipement at **Channel One** were great and I prefer their early dancehall recordings.

For Me Channel 1 is king '76-'79, I love that rockers sound. Also T.S.O.S.A on Clappers. I don't know where those tracks were laid, but I love that sound. Two very different sounds, both on another level for me.

Ok Litejet here's my view on sounds............

i've always love the King Tubbys sound because of the aggressive sounding drums reverbs, and the mixing is pretty much rough cut bass heavy not always by the King but his apprentices as well. scientist added a lot more flavor in his mixing style, as well you can have an idea on who's the engineer 80% of the time. Channel One always had that crystal clear sound in recording as well as mixing take for example the instrumentals by the revolutionaries, you hear vibrant horns on the tracks more upfront when it's their time to shine and the drum sound [as commented by various people] sounded like gunshots firing away in the studio. black ark always to my view had tha mystic spacelike sound in the late 70's mixes, Lee Perry was and still is a genius in that right, but what if all the studio's in jamaica had that same sound blaring away, jamaican music would be down right boring. i'll make my other comments on the other studio's in a later post.

I was thinking about Wackies who like Studio One as a really particular sound, a lot of reverb.
I love the wackies sounds

And for sure, Vivian Jackson for his rootser than roots sound
