VP records have gone deep into their vaults again and come up with two brilliant releases for this year's Christmas season.

First there will be the mighty Wailing Souls' 'Wailing' album. This has always been a classic from the early 1980s dancehall era with some of the most militant mixes by Scientist.

Second there is Johnny Osbourne's 'Nightfall' which became a much soughtafter item during the last years as it is slightly different to his 'Innah Disco Style' release which featured some of the same tracks.

Both albums were produced by Linval Thompson and feature the great Roots Radics as backing musicians.

They will also reissue debut album by Freddie McGregor - Mr McGregor.

And I can see Greensleeves will put out some nice dub series in January.

Something good is going on!

For this two albums by Wailing Souls and Johnny Osbourne I guess it will be only digital mp3 re-issues, unfortunately! - Possibly mailing the label will help to release those on CD and LP.

For the 4CD box-set there is one very interesting album (first time on CD?) called 'Serial Dub' - this is the Joe Gibbs one!

Wailing Souls and Johnny Osbourne are / were supposed to have a CD issue.

I was told the release date was 16/12/08 and ordered them via Honest Jons.

Unfortunately they did not receive them and believe the release date had been put back till after new year.

I hope these do get the CD/vinyl re-issues they deserve and are not just MP3.

They really are two great albums.

Terrible idea to put them only in mp3 format. I hope it won’t happen and average cd/lp release will be available.
