"Africa Stand Alone" - Culture

I know there are posts relating to this album, but, as they are on threads relating to other topics, I thought I would start something specific to this album.

I've just picked up a copy of this, which I am assuming is original (I may be wrong, of course). I think it's an original because of the *batch* of albums it came from. Didn't pay a lot for it so it isn't an issue if it is a repress/reissue.

Thick cardboard cover of which the front is pink (don't think it's red, maybe it is) with a different shaped Africa (in black) to the white cover on RA, and a white back cover and a black (April) label.

Haven't had a chance to look at the matrix number as I am at work. :)

Over to you, Leggo. :)

This album holds a special place in my heart-it was one of the first reggae albums i bought.
My version has the thick pink/red cover and plain white back with no printing.The front almost looks screenprinted and the Africa is more upright than the file photo and Somalia has the 'point'on it.The label however is the same as the file photo-but the matrix in the run off is DI 734x32.

Just had a quick look and the a and b-sides have different numbers;
DI 734x32/DI 735x33 - scratched into vinyl
ADI 735x33/ADI 735x32 - on label

There's a paste on slicj orange and black copy which I always deemed an earlier NY press.

I bought mine in the year of release. The front cover is deep red and black, and the back has rough green type on white background. The yellow April label looks like the one here on RA. It couldn't have been one of the very first copies, though, because I didn't get the bonus track :(

I was led to believe "Rasta" on Pre-Release was the original pressing and the one with the bous track.

I think Africa Stand Alone and Rasta more or less came out at the same time, but Rasta does have the bonus track. My copy of Rasta is in a blank white sleeve (except the guys in the shop had a go at writing what the song titles might be on it). It has all the appearances of a UK pressing, whereas I think "Africa..." was a US issue but I could be wrong.

Hey Leggo

Brillant stuff. Must say mine doesn't look like any of yours. Convinced mine is pink as opposed to red or orange. I'll upload a photo when I get a chance. Particularly like that white cover! :)

Here we go;

For some reason it didn't like it when I *tidied* the links up.
