They played with great enthousiasm and spirit for 2 hours not forgetting any of their greatests songs. They played 2 new ones that will appear in a soon come album and it was heavy !
Real blessed voices , so nice to see them

But the congos used to be Cedric Myton and Congo Ashanti Roy. Didnt't they split in the early 80ies?

yes, Ashanti Roy left for a solo carreer after Image of Africa and they went on with the bass voice and Myton and another singer. And now Ashanti Roy is back, since a few months, and, you know, they are so high together, so irie to be united again. They were not here for money, it was true love my friend. Yes I

hi guys,mostly john public
i was lucky enough last saturday to take to cedric myton on the phone from paris through a friend of mine who caught with hime backstage and put me through.i was really glad to link up and talked to him from thousands of miles away from france(here in senegal).iam glad that most of the reggae trios which emerged produced the best of jamaican music in the 70's decided to come back on the scene;people are more and more in need of the vintage live music with versatile singing harmonies.
love to everyone
fadel

I saw the Congos live in London (I think) in the early 80s. They rocked. Possibly they were supporting Prince Far I, not sure of that fact because my memory fades...

But I do remember the enthusiasm and roots feeling bursting forth from their playing.

I'd love to live a night like that again.

you know, they kept fisherman for the last song, and the vibe was so big in the crowd..
As I told you, their voices and energy are still reaching high and what is cool is that the music was quite faithfull to the recordings (bass lines, drum playing...). The atmosphere was really nice during the whole show. The sound is more modern, you can't do anything about that, but still rootsy, nearly no synthetiser. The most important to me is the feeling the singers spread ,and the quality of the harmonies. With the four voices and Ashanti Roy always smiling (just like in the inna de yard dvd with Myton)the sound was wide and deep.. They played the whole Heart oh the Congos album.
I hope it will be as good anywhere they'll go.

Those who can should go to the Ja Sound festival in southern france this august. You can see the Congos, but also Bunny Wailer with the Soul Syndicate, Kiddus I, Earl Chinna Smith, etc. I was also happy to see that they invited Bambu Station.
The good season to reap nice musical vibrations has started !

I saw the Congos live at SOB's in New York City in late 1996 or early 1997. The show was billed as a reunion tour and was in support of the reissue of 'Heart of the Congos'. It was absolutely the best show that I have ever attended. Great vibes, good vocals, and a killer set list. Enjoy the shows!!
Respect,
Krawl
