This is perhaps a strange question, but I was listening to Yabby You "King Pharaoh Plague", and I was thinking wether the RA members know of any other examples of reggae tunes having such a dark, menacing quality?

Maybe it's just me but I always find something vaguely sinister about the Heptones song Guiding Star. It's supposedly a love song but the mix of lyrics and melody make it sound like it's being sung by a stalker hiding in the bushes rather than a lover!
A more straightforward choice would be The Wailers' Midnight Ravers?

yeah man, that "stark", "sinister" sound of some deep roots tunes is definitely killer when you're in the mood to receive it. lots of heavy tunes out there, and for my money several of yabby's tunes hit that chord. play tommy's "death trap" for some other darkness. some tunes by prince fari, lots of stuff on the freedom sounds label, some glen brown productions, even lots of roots radics period stuff is just "aggressive". lots of examples, i just can't think of any off the headtop!
