I want to choose 3 albums each from their entire discographies but there are so many i cant decide. Please tell me which ones to get. Please take into consideration that while I appreciate the classics, I am really looking for some decent stuff in terms of sound quality. So even though a Levy album from 1975 may be a classic...if it sounds like its recorded in some opium den with the first computer ever built...not interested. Please try to recommend legitimate commercial (not necessarily commercially successful, but in terms of quality...) albums.

Barrington did record as early as '75 with his group The Mighty Multitudes and Heckel & Jeckle. As you might have guessed it wasn't anything computerised.

@Hi Well Charge
A "minor" point, but shouldn't "Mini Bus" be on your "minor key" list?

Everybody is recommending Barrington, and rightly so, but why no Luciano, just because he is from past the RA-timeline?

Essential Luciano albums of the 1990s are either produced by Philip 'Fatis' Burrell or Freddie McGregory and to name just three:
"Shake it up tonight" (Big Ship)
"Where there is Life" (Xterminator)
"Sweep over my Soul" (Xterminator)

Off course, there's a whole lot more and some are great too (Back to Africa, One Way Ticket, The Messenger etc.) but you only asked for three :)

I recommend 'Englishman','Doh Ray Me', 'Run Come Ya!' as the top 3 essential Barrington Levy albums.

Yes Dave K, don't know why i classified it under major key, probably because it sounds uplifting and "dancehall-ish"
