Hi,

It is in the title, I was always fascinated by this drummer, he influences me deeply, I learned the music by listen to his drumming (here the video of my drumming if you want to see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLuPLY5N ... annel_page) - in short for me that exceeds the music, without joke
it is as if I were very close to him, which he stays in me, you will believe me or not... However, I do not know almost anything of his life if not his music. I think, i have already the visible infos like everybody,(reggae fans) I try to collect the photographs of him, as if I were a historian of the reggae music. For me, it is kind of sometjing spiritual and that exceeds me ! I learned that he was shot by an German man how his wife had to recruit because she wanted assassinated Carly as in an opera !

It is a dark story, in the same year the Barrett's father was also assasinated ! in short, the character of Carly Barrett is attractive for me !

indeed carlton barrett is one of the most innovative drummers that the word ever heard even though it is arguable.iam a hardcore wailers fan and i may be subjective at times.he really was the one drop style.his intro and drum rolls were unbelievable.he wasn't nevertheless that talkative and was seldom interviewed.a pity he left us so prematurely.
meanwhile this is the first version i ever hear of the circumstances of his death.i remeber having read back then(in 1987)that a male suspect who was known to be the boy-friend of his wife was arrested in relation with the slaying but was released only weeks after that.it will ever remains a mystery as any murder in jamaica.oddlyenoughfriday (april 17th)will be 22 years since he was murdered,that good friday opf april 17th 1987.

we're probably talking about aston familyman barrett's biography, wailing blues, that came out through writer john masouri the other year. not a book on carlton, even if his story is contained therein i think...
