Whats up people,

For those of you who are familiar with uploading tracks to youtube, could you help me understand the copyright infringement policy? Can I upload any track from vinyl and put it up? Can I use a picture of the record that I found on the internet? Many great tracks up on youtube, just tryin to do my part.

You Tube scans all videos for copyright infringement.
If you were to put up a track by Burning Spear, for example that is on a major record label represented by the RIAA then you would probably automatically have the audio muted in the video.
A tip here is that if you fiddle with the audio by pitching it up or down by 5% the scanner won't recognize the track. Probably not something you want to do when the video is all about the sound, but the difference will not be drastic.

But as I understand it, the good news is that the music we people like on this Forum is generally not 'protected' by the RIAA and the You Tube scanners will not find any instance of infringement.

That is just my understanding based on a web post I read a couple of weeks ago by someone who performed experiments using a variety of parameters on a video which included a 'commercial' track.

Good luck.

Always thought You Tube was a strange way to get the music out there, but...maybe that's just me.
The sound quality is pretty terrible unless it has improved lately.

So I should really be posting crappy videos of my stuff on You Tube for promoshan?
I'll probably do just that.
Just need a flash card that can do video for longer than 3 minutes!
So Lego, plasticene, pets doing hilarious things or small children punching dad in crotch? The possibilities are limitless and limiting...

The next generation are going to have serious hearing problems later in life, I fear. All that sonic mess can't be good for the ears.
