I've just seen that Groundation are playing in Southampton UK in July. Would anyone on here recommend going to see them?
I heard the nmae plenty of time but never really taken much notice.

hm, .. have seen them twice in europe, very good shows.
but i guess you should actually like groundation

(that is, if you don't like 'hebron gate' or 'rockamoovya' don't go there, i know reggae lovers who don't really get groundation, especially the more (early) dancehall orientated ones ;p)
personally, i wouldn't miss it!
bless

The 3 Groundation shows that i have been to the past 3 years have continued to be amongst the most inspiring, moving and 'deep' roots shows i have been to.
They build their tunes in the most atmospheric of ways and the singer Harrison Stafford's passion for roots music... infact just music itself and it's power is just amazing.
They always keep things deep rooted in reggae & dub but throw in some jazz improvisation and amazing percussion brakes to keep you on your toes.
I know the venue (Soul Cellar) in Southampton - a really good venue with nice sound system and layout. Groundation are rare to be seen playing venues of this size - it will be an intimate show for sure.
My highest of recommendations for what their worth
I'll be there that's for sure!

The new LP "here I am", is superb!! A friend of mine saw them live and they played live equal as cd record... top musicians indeed. The only one i dont like 100% is the singer.... comparisons arent good but when cedric congo myton, don carlos or pablo moses sing in their cd's, I dont wanna hear harrison again.......
For me one of the best bands of today.

Congos & Pablo Moses. And Sticky at percussions.
'Blues away' the track with Pablo Moses its singed at two voices, Harrison and Pablo, and for me its a shame, you cant hear Pablo...
'Time Come' the principal track of the Congos is superb.
'Not so simple' its a great great song, with progressive or jazz changes very impressive.
They have a new woman singer, and i dont like it very much...
My two cents
