Gladiators Peace Truce

Hello reggae oracle,
I'm a little confused about the Gladiators tune Peace Truce aka Culture's Fussing & Fighting. I have a dub version of the original Gladiators track, but the vocal version I have on Presenting the Gladiators has drum machine overdubs. What is the original Gladiators vocal version (sans drum machine overdub) on? There must be one since the dub I have is with real drums.
I love this riddim and tune, but the drum machine seems out of place.

I will check tonight with Rob Chapman's "Downbeat Special" book, but I would assume the original version is on the original album. There appear to be 3 different versions of the album and the later versions have been remixed.

The crucial versions are back to back on Studio One 7"
(A) Peace - The Gladiators
(B) Peace (Ver.) - Brentford Disco Set
The version is dubbed Juks style and it's a must!

So I guess buying 'Presenting' is a crap shoot where you don't know which mix you're getting? That's a shame. I'm usually not one to dis drum machines, but in this case...why did they mess with the original? Shite. I don't imagine I'll run across the 7" anytime soon. Oh well, at least I have the dub version and the Culture version. Thanks for the info.

The 7" is really findable on ebay and the original press of the "Presenting LP" is fine. The represses have different mixes and songs. I personnally enjoy to have the 2 versions of "My thoughts" due to that. There is a different effect that I like on the tune "Re arrange", repress version: there is a bad mix and there is a pre-echo, means you hear lowly the vocals before they are sung and it gives a kind of special harmonies that I pretty enjoy.
But Im like you, I wonder why they feel like we would prefer an overdubbed version...

Yeah, Peace Version is sublime! I love Studio One dub. Well, I guess I'll have to keep my eye out for that 7"

This is the case with a lot of Studio One reissue albums. Presumably Coxsone was trying to *move with the times*.

Just checked and on the original pressing the track is actually called "Stop This Fussing". Cross referenced it with Rob's "Never Grow Old" riddim directory and it says that "Peace Truce" is a different mix to "Stop....".

Thanks, that's helpful to know! Makes it easier to find the right mix.
