Max Edwards!

I don't know much about him but I was listening to Knowledge's "Hail Dread" and thought to myself, "this must be Sly on drums." The drum beat is a wicked oddball one with plenty of M16-like sounds on the snare. I looked it up and was dead wrong. Not Sly Dunbar, at all.

Drummer = Max Edwards

He probably owes a lot to Dunbar as far as influence but he's completely amazing on this track. Based on this track alone, I've decided to seek out some other stuff he's played on.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Greetings Selector J, yeah Max Edwards was a wicked drummie for sure. He plays great and sings as well on Soul Syndicate's "Harvest uptown, Famine Downtown" LP/CD! Check it for sure. He was the drummer in Soul Syndicate very early on and then did a later stint with them when they cut that record!

Max "Feelgood" Edwards is really great in the "Hail Dread" Channel One's track. (Voiced and mixed at King Tubby's by the great Scientist and Prince Jammy).

Soul Syndicate's "Harvest Uptown, Famine Downtown" is a wonderful set, in my opinion.

Also Known as Max Asher...you should check his own vocal LP on the Epiphany label called "Rockers Arena". It has some wicked chunes! He plays drums on that one too!

Thanks for all the recommendations. Didn't realize he was involved with Soul Syndicate either. I'm definitely going to have to check out the Harvest Uptown, Famine Downtown and Rockers Arena albums.

Respect.
