Does anyone have this threefer set? I was thinking of ordering it the other day, due to the low price - but then I read in various places that the mix presented on 'Blackboard Jungle Dub' is really crappy...

Highly recommended!
This has the original/correct stereo mix of Blackboard Jungle Dub - only found on the first LP press.
(Also available on the Auralux CD "Upsetters 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle", which actually was the original title of this)

That's Scratch's Ape-ology, isn't it?
btw, here's one of the reviews that says that the BJ mix on Dub-Triptych is the 'bad' one.
http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sq ... fwxq8rldde
"Over the years, respect for the album would fall well behind Perry's other total masterpiece, Super Ape, thanks to the Blackboard Jungle Dub album, which featured the same recordings found here, but in a much inferior mix. This undesirable version kept reappearing, to the point where even the mighty Trojan included it in their Dub-Triptych set"
Is that deffo wrong, then? I know that it wouldn't be the first time that allmusic.com has made an error. Thanks.

Yes, they got it wrong!
The original mix is on Dub-Triptych, as well as the Auralux CD which they reviewed.

there's no 'from creation' dubplate... Al 'homemade' mixes...Remixed demo's and studio outtakes...

Thanks for the good word, guys. I'm now 100% convinced that I want this compilation on my CD shelf/floor CD pile...
I might have to have another listen to one of the Ape albums today, now that we've had this conversation.

OH, a great move! Perry has been responsible for SO many fantastic releases...i think the best stuff i've heard recently are pressure sounds Perry releases "Produced And Directed By..." and "Voodooism"...
[cover=226,253][cover=213,238]
both have dub content, but are primarily obscure singles (don't read "obscure" to mean "lacking in quality - this stuff is amazing!) with their dub conterparts..
