it's allright, certainly not his best work. but enjoyable still. rather straight forward revolutionairies covers of mainly studio one songs, his version of DEB's Stay At Home, the rockers remake of have you ever been in love and offcourse Up Park camp stand out

Can't go wrong with any classic Channel One riddims and of course John's sweet voice, but of course I guess it wouldn't be considered his best by many!

Up Park Camp is one of his best songs, though.

The originator is Winston Jarrett. According to the "Survival is the game" compilation, the song is from 1969, which to me seems too early (the story with the penitentiary indicates that it dates probably from around '74 or '75).
Holt's version must have been recorded around '77.

OK all. Months after I realize that "Up Park Camp" LP is in fact is easy to find by targeting "Roots Of Holt" LP, which is more or less the same LP (Trojan)
Re activating this thread with the question :
What are the 5 must have albums from John Holt (outside Paragons work)?

That is a good question! Just realized that i don't have much Holt.. I love all his Paragons stuff, but his solo work is always on a thin line between great and cheesy.
I like the "Up Park Camp" LP and "Police In Helicopters". There's also a great John Holt at Studio 1 Compilation by Heartbeat (though not just solo-stuff).
What i really don't like (and i tried several times) is the "... Volt Of Holt" series.
So - what about the others?
