I seem to remember I read somewhere that the number of records that came out in Jamaica in 1975 was at it's peak .Looking at my 7"database it occurs to me that also there was a lot of selfproducing on small labels . Costs must have been relatively low I guess.
Really love those productions, although they might not always have big voices or topnotch songwriting, but they have a certain attraction to me.

Any thoughts?

i agree! there a lot of really homegrown organic productions in '75..Winston Edwards and fay, black wax...

My impression on this might be a bit influenced by my own tastes... but as I love the ruff sound of the mid 70's (lets say 74-76) with many artists that did one only song ina deep roots style... I have noticed that many of my records are from 1976...

And so Ive always assumed that this big explosion happend in 76! but if you have read 75... must be true!

Clancy Eccle had nuff productions running at that time too
