Police and Thieves 12"/dub versions

I was listening to a reggae show on a local college station and the DJ played Junior Murvin's "Police & Thieves". He cut the song just as it sounded like it was transitioning into a dub or disco mix, but I can't say for certain. I didn't have my cell phone with me so I couldn't call him. So, are there extended versions and/or dub versions available? And if there are, are any of these versions available on CD? The Roots Archives listing for the reissue of the Police and Thieves (the album/CD) does not list an extended version:

Yes, there is a Island 12" extended version with DJ and a full horns version on the flip.

There is also a wicked Dub Version did by Augustus Pablo & The Upsetters, it's called "Babylon Police Thief Dub" and it's on the "Trojan Dub Rarities Box".

But there is no such thing as a extended mix of 'Police & Thieves' on vinyl.

The Island 4-track 12" does NOT have any extended versions!
And I agree with Ron that there is no extended Police & Thieves to be found - I would love to hear one though...

We've now been caught up in semantics
. Now that opens the debate to the question: What does "extended" mean?
By the way I AGREE with the "thinking" that the Island 12" does not have an "extended" version...in the traditional meaning of an "extended" track(i.e no track split between the vocal/dj version/dub versions)...but then again I've heard people talk of "the track being 'extended on the B side with dub' " etc.

since to extend means to increase length.. it bassicly means a longer version.

In fact the tracks are separated in the original 12"... but it's quite easy for someone to make a extended version with the mp3 rips and a audio software...
Like so many 7's that are recorded both sides onto one mp3 and are available out there over the net as 12" extended versions (that in fact, never existed!).

True, true. But the two cuts on each side do have sound effects to splice them together without any dead space ("Police and Thieves">Big Ben/gong>tape rewind>laboured breathing>"Soldier and Police War"), so it does kind of go halfway to the extended format (i.e. you could play them at a session without using two turntables).

Those sound effects weren't done by Lee Perry, but by Paul Smykle(?). So, it's kind of making your own extended versions still, isn't it.
