Jewish Reggae

Hi!
Heard about Jewish Reggae in the media. Means, there are a couple of artists from Israel.

Don`t know much about it, so please allow some questions.

Do they worship Jah Rastafari, too?
It is said that Israel does not accept the Ethiopian Orthodox Church or Haile Selassie or Rasta faith and the root of Queen Sheba. They only do accept the root of David.

So what is their (religious) message? Is it true that Israel wants Rastas and Ethiopian Church believers to quit thier faith otherwise they wouldn`t accept them?

Thx for answers, guidance,
Lion

you made many assumptions
i dont know how many of them to adress as there are too many but i will say that being jewish does not mean you are from israel and making reggae music does not mean that you worship jah

I won't participate to the debate as I don't know anything about the inner convictions of those artists. Matisyahu is jewish (and very religious) but not from israel (NY), and he's not a rasta.
I also love a band called Tomer Yossef which is from Israel, have a try.

but I can tell you more next year as I'll be in Israel for a few months. Obviously I'll check up the roots bands out there and the spiritual/religious aspects too. greetings

Check this link:

It was posted recently on www.ozreggae.com

MATISYAHU was till reading this the only international reggae artist from a jewish faith that I had heard of, although in Australia there is Raz Bin Sam (who works with The Lion I Band). Raz originated in Isreal, has been in Aust about 6 years, although not stricktly religious he draws particularly on the paralells between Rasta & the belief he was bought up with. He belives not in Sellasie - "...it's not about the human master..." (check: www.razbinsam.com)
Anyhow, Matisyahu & Raz Bin Sam are playing a Festival in Australia in Byron Bay this July.
