Black Uhuru - the album known as Showcase/Black Uhuru/Guess Who's Coming To Dinner

I notice that there are currently two versions of this album readily available on CD at present:

on Heartbeat as 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner'

and

on Virgin as 'Black Uhuru'

Has anyone here had the opportunity to compare them, in terms of sound quality? Which one sounds the best?

I have the "Guess who's coming to dinner" CD and I believe they have slightly different mixes.

Sound quality on heartbeat release is great.

Blessings,

The Black Uhuru album on Virgin is tremendous, with dubs attached to all tracks, some sweet lyrics there for sure.Enjoy the music.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I read the other thread - but I was really looking for a direct comparison of the albums in terms of which version is closest to the one intended by the band.

It's a sad fact (far from unique to reggae) that the older a recording is, the more likely it is that an overzealous remastering engineer has screwed it up in an attempt to tinker the mix to make it sound 'more modern', more palatable to a rock/urban/whatever audience, or better on the dance floor, or suchlike.

None of the different mixes sound very "washed down" for any non-reggae audience, it's all pretty much authentic roots reggae...
